Young & Fabulous?

These are their old tracks, I think. These guys were loved by many, but also disliked by quite a few. They almost seemed to be a joke on the Glam world, with the members wearing obviously fake wigs and such. The music was cool, but the image was always a little bit more than suspect.

Oh, and I need to add that I shouldn't just say "guys", as there were two females in the band also. I think it was two. Kind of a B-52's thing going, if memory seves.

i saw these guys (girls?) out in Jersey a few years back at a convention thing. they were entertaining. I have their cds at home but i can't honestly remember ever listening to them.

I like the description ... a camper version than Robin Black ... that rocks ! Particularly as KERRAP described Robin as the 'gay Motley Crue' ... tho a more hetero chap I have never met (despite the song 'More Effeminate Than You' and all the make-up !!!!)

Not really. Young & fab. usually played it up for being real. There were no covers really, and they pulled it off well. If their image didn't involve such obvious wigs and such, then they would have been much more loved. Ya just felt kind of wrong liking them in a way. More like The Darkness actually, you just didn't know if they were serious at all.

Young & Fabulous WAS a joke guys. They were a real band, with real songs (and lots of damn good ones mind you), but they were a spoof. The singer "Chauncey R. Fabulous" is a normal guy, with short hair and a good 9-5 job. He grew up through the 70's playing in punk bands in Greenwich Village. He "grew up" and gave up music, then well into his 30's, he decided to come up with this outrageous stage show that centered around everything being over the top. They never tried to pull off being a real legitimate rock band. They were having a lot of fun being silly, and playing a shit load of killer glam/punk songs.

The band broke up over five years ago, and the singer decided to up the ante even higher. Today he's the brains behind SKUM, probably the most offensive, over the top, vile rock and roll band I've ever seen or heard. Every song is about sucking someone's dick, ramming a dildo up somebody's ass, or being ass banged by a dog. They've gone from a real life Rocky Horror Picture Show as Young & Fabulous, to now being a glam rock version of G.G. Allin. Believe me, it's a turn for the worse [img]smile.gif[/img]

Young & Fabulous was never about a record deal or respecability. It was about going out of your way to be over the top to the point of being obsurd. They have a bunch of songs over the course of three releases...

You can skip the SKUM stuff though unless you really want to get it...It's soooooooo not even funny at this point...

Anyone else heard these? They sound like a camper version of Robin Black & The I.R.S with better musicianship and the songs are more catchy... I've only heard these 3 MP3S but there real fun.

I LOVED Young & Fabulous. The songs were extremely catchy fun bubblegum glampunk. I have two albums by them. I agree with Sandi though. That Skum stuff that came later was fucking awful and way over the top with the offensiveness that it wasn't even funny.

Well.... they try to be all fucking cool by singing about stuff like that, but they pull it off with so much immaturity that it's sad in a way... and quite offensive i guess to a lot of people. I hated the shit personally but Young & Fabulous kicked arse [img]smile.gif[/img]
